Through a regional regranting partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Tinworks Art has established the Beyond the Mountains Fund, a grant program committed to elevating Montana-based artists whose work and practices may fall outside of traditional funding channels.
Beyond the Mountains Fund will provide Montana-based artists with monetary grants to help pursue independent, public-facing projects that encourage experimentation and collaboration. The Fund will award one $10,000 grant and ten $5,000 grants through an open call held annually from August 1 to October 1. By prioritizing Indigenous, emerging, mid-career, and established artists exploring new directions and public outlets, we hope the program will strengthen Montana's arts ecosystems, foster community connections, and expand the visibility and impact of artists' work. The Fund recognizes artists as vital contributors to the cultural life of Montana and the greater Mountain West.
The goal of Beyond the Mountains Fund is to directly support artists who innovate and take risks in areas and practices that are often difficult to fund. By providing resources and visibility, we aim to help artists broaden the reach of their work to new audiences.
The 2026 application opens Saturday August 1, 2026 and closes Wednesday September 30, 2026.

Tinworks Art is a nonprofit organization in Bozeman, Montana, with a mission to support artists, their work, and community in evolving spaces, where art meets the American West. Tinworks presents work by emerging and established artists—with a particular commitment to Indigenous artists, encourages artistic experimentation, commissions new work, and centers art in this time of change.
The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts advances the visual arts nationwide, honoring Warhol's will through an innovative grants program and the careful stewardship of his legacy. Since 2007, its Regional Regranting Program has supported independently organized, artist-centered work beyond the reach of traditional funding — Beyond the Mountains Fund joined as a regional partner in 2026.
